Our only significant complaint about the 42-inch C3 is that it sounds very dull, but seeing that we almost always recommend budgeting for a dedicated sound system (such as a soundbar) with almost any TV you buy, we're not going to hold that against the little C3 unduly.

New user interface

Also expect to find lots of region-specific apps such as BBC iPlayer in the UK, HBO Max in the US and Stan in Australia. Aside from clearer images, another benefit of digital TV is the electronic programme guide (EPG), which can show you what’s on now or later at a glance. All TVs display “now” and “next” information in a small pop-up window, but most models also have a more in-depth fullscreen mode that shows seven or more days of scheduling. What ports and connections do I need? If your smartphone is unable to stream the platform, it’s likely the problem is with the streaming platform or your Internet connection. Try other streaming services to be sure.

The best upper mid-range 43-inch TV we've tested is the Samsung QN43QN90CAFXZA. It's an impressive TV overall, andthesmaller 43-inchsize offers a few extra features for PC gamers, including a higher 144Hz refresh rate on all four of its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports. This allows for smoother motion handling than comparable 120Hz displays. It delivers an impressive gaming experience but has a noticeably slower response time than the LG C3 OLED, so you'll see more blur and ghosting around fast-moving objects if you play fast-paced games. The Samsung Q60C QLED is a decent TV from Samsung and an alternative to the Sony X85K and Roku Select Series. Unfortunately, the Sony is much better overall for about the same price, and the far cheaper Roku TV is a tad better overall. The QN95C may not have the resolution of its 8K stablemate the QN900C, but this 4K Mini LED quantum dot-powered flagship is an incredible TV in its own right. It’s capable of hitting very high peak brightness and the number of independently dimmable zones has doubled from last year’s QN95B. Images are stunning as a result, with plenty of shadow detail, highlights that pop and colours that are both vivid and accurately reproduced. Those gaming-specific features are complemented wonderfully well but exceptional SDR and HDR picture quality, impressive Dolby Atmos sound and the latest iteration of LG’s smart platform, webOS 22. The latter provides access to just about every streaming service imaginable and navigating the platform is a doddle using the Magic Remote. Models 50in and up benefit from LG’s evo panel technology, which increases brightness when compared with last year’s model. Sadly, the 42in and 48in options can’t take advantage of this due to the pixel density on their smaller panel, but they’re still more than bright enough to deliver stunning HDR performance.

Operating system: 40-inch, 42-inch and 43-inch TVs didn't always come with a smart TV operating system in the past but they often do now. What you're looking for, ideally, is a well-maintained operating system like Roku TV, LG's webOS or Samsung's Tizen operating system. If you go with a TV that uses a proprietary operating system (basically an operating system exclusive to that one TV) you might have some serious issues down the road. For instance, if you’re having issues with Netflix, you can try other services like Facebook Watch or YouTube to troubleshoot. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 29th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) But if there is still no sound, try rebooting your TV, by unplugging and turning it on again after two minutes. It's now common to find 4K on 40, 42 and 43-inch sets, even at the budget end, and support for HDR formats (including HDR10+ and even Dolby Vision in some cases) is usually included, too. Peak brightness and colour depth are often a bit limited with cheaper models, though, so it's generally best not to expect a dazzling HDR performance unless you're prepared to spend quite a lot of money. You don’t have to spend long in the AU7100’s company, though, to realise that a TV doesn’t have to be an extrovert to stand out from the crowd. Solid processing and a thoughtful, balanced picture that actually seems to have had some care and attention lavished on it can be more than enough. The first thing to look at is the remote control. There might be a defective power button that causes the problem. The damage may be a bloated capacitor, which an experienced repairman can easily replace. 5. My Sharp TV has No Sound

is now the de facto standard for any self-respecting TV, offering four times the resolution of 1080p. Although 8K is gaining traction in the consumer market, it’s really not necessary to buy a TV with an 8K resolution just yet. They’re expensive for one, and there’s also barely any native 8K content out there. By and large, you will only be watching upscaled 4K content if you have an 8K TV in your living room.If you are familiar with the brand, you know that you’re getting a pretty decent deal, price-wise, as both Hisense and Sharp TVs are reasonably priced. If you are still unable to connect to the Wi-Fi, the problem is likely with the distance between the router and the TV. This is all down to the resolving power of the human eye; our eyesight can only differentiate between lines and dots up to a fixed distance. So if you sit 25ft away from a 4K or 8K TV, those millions of extra pixels won’t make a difference. Think of it like a pointillism painting – from far enough away, you can no longer make out the individual dots on a Georges Seurat landscape.
