About this deal

The Spirit Engineer by A. J. West brilliantly twines the gothic & historical fiction genres together… The pumpkin dragonling from Dirty Paws Australia felt right at home with this supernatural tale! Happiness Boost: After following his wife and discovering what she was up to, he is immersed into the world of spiritualism, even donning the name The Spirit Engineer, his name a marriage of his two sides. The once skeptic is determined to show others the proof he has of the spirit world being real. Can he prove his theories or will he discover more than he bargained for before all is said and done? Is Goligher a fraud? Is Crawford himself a reliable narrator?... West answers these questions with ingenuity and invention' The Sunday Times

There is nothing in the book which would entice this reviewer to a seance. It's a grotesque abuse of the vulnerable and there are many vulnerable characters in this particular story. The unsinkable Titanic had sunk. Belfast was in mourning. The Great War was eating up a generation of young men, leaving not just empty chairs in many homes but literally thousands of broken hearts all with a need for answers to inexplicable loss. Belfast, Crawford tell us was "hiding in its own madness". Let me prepare you – this book is gripping, thrilling, and mind-twisting. To know that it’s based on a true story makes it even more interesting. I was completely hooked and couldn’t put this book down until I was done (and yes, I read it with the lights all on). Exploiting agile design principles, sophisticated digital applications, and advanced manufacturing skills, the team will generate knowledge and evidence for a potential follow-on project. Findings could lead to this revolutionary capability being deployed by the RAF to enhance protection, survivability and information advantage to aircrews. The book is about psychic phenomena, mediums, religion. It is about faith, and beliefs. It is also about grief, obsession and exploitation, and about ambition, lies and deception.

It appears Kathleen ceased all spiritual mediumship in her mid-thirties. Indeed, she stopped mentioning her paranormal past altogether, her fame slipping into silence and a unmentioned secret. She married and had her own children, her husband setting up a seemingly successful herbalist business before running a cinema in Holywood (Northern Ireland). The only apparent memory of her past life was the name the Donaldsons chose fo their homes as their family grew. They called them ‘Nacoma’, which was the name of Kathleen’s spirit guide: an aberration of a Native American chief who had some notoriety in Victorian popular culture. conducted with a direct approach that first identifies the needs of our client and then establish the goals and objectives to satisfy our client's needs. There is a good idea for a book in The Spirit Engineer. Unfortunately, I found that precious little about it landed for me.

Se non vuoi perderti neanche una recensione c’è anche il canale telegram: https://t.me/ilibrididede Professor William Crawford is a rational man. An engineer, he teaches at the local institute in Belfast, only just keeping his family financially afloat, and he awaits the success of his next book, to release them from the goodwill of the not very likeable Aunt Adelia, who dangles the financial carrot in front of the family she likes to keep as a pet project. West has mixed fact with fiction and shrouded it all in a gothic veil of mystery. There are some disturbing subjects and ideas to come from this book. Of course, seances and dabbling in ‘ the other side’ are not going to be easy experiences. I just loved the way you are invited to belief or not, but to experience the world of those trying to understand it all. A delight of a debut, an atmospheric and entirely gripping chiller that calls to mind the best of M.R. James and E.F. Benson, without in any way paling in comparison' Billy O'Callaghan, author of Life SentencesHowever, it all starts to unravel, leaving the reader not knowing what is real and what is not, those who believe, and those who only believe they believe, until the final part, in which (no spoilers) everything is explained, to great effect.
